Week 3: Tidbits of Information

I pray you all had a nice long weekend with plenty of time to spend with friends and family!

The students took their first spelling test on Spelling City on Friday and everything went pretty smoothly we only had a few glitches.

We will begin Xtra math at the beginning of math class this week.

Students will be completing the fall NWEA maps testing next week.  With that in mind, homework will be lighter and I will not be assigning a spelling contract or test that week.

Field trip to Gifford farm for a team challenge event is next Friday, September 14th.  We will go rain or shine. Students will need to wear clothing they don't mind getting dirty and pack a sack lunch with a drink.

Please look for a yellow sheet coming home in your child's Monday envelope.  This will give details on a rock collection your child will need to bring to school on September 24th for science class.

This week I will be focusing on teaching the class to write in complete sentences.   I will be teaching them this little phrase to remind them of what I am looking for in a complete sentence.  "Your sentences have to have SWAG."  s=start with a capital, w=written neatly, a= a space between words, g= given punctuation.  If you see this on your child's papers you will know what I am talking about.
